In the early days, Julia Child brought great cooking to television. Because she was on public television, everyone watched her made delicious food on the TV set. Then Yang Can Cook was also featured. Yang brought to Americans Asian cooking; even though Yang was mostly doing Chinese cooking. Actually, he was mostly cooking Cantonese style cooking. Then there was a show called East Meets West that showcased a mixture of Asian culinary delights.Now, people are glued to the Food Network. Now, you can view old fashioned barbeque or old Southern home cooking. The original Iron Chef was a big hit with the American audience. It featured four Japanese chefs, in various culinary trainings, who took up challengers on the show each week. It pitted chefs from famed restaurants from France against the Iron Chef French, for example. It was this show that really brought Ethnic food front and centered.
The new Iron Chef America also has the same theme; that of challengers of various culinary training trying to up one on the Iron Chefs.
One Globe More Culinary Delights
As more and more people are traveling aboard, they are experiencing the different styles of food that each culture has to offer. They went to London and experienced the British Tea. They went to France and experienced the French bread. They went to the Asian countries and experienced some of the more exotic foods. Mind you, some of the Asian foods are downright exotic! If you have ever been to China, you can have snake on the menu. If you went to Thailand, you would see different kinds of food. Ethnic food has such a variety.Culinary Varieties
